When inspiration hits
Now fortunately I’ve managed to reclaim my Morschauser’s rules and Featherstone notes for wargamers which offer me a wealth of knowledge for gaming.
Neil Thomas has a brilliant book on European 19th Century warfare (I have this on PDF), with an excellent write up for a dip into the First Carlist war. Thomas details forces involved in Alegria.
Rolling on with the 2mm, getting something sorted for a crack at horse/musket. The thing is when you are creating 2mm or any miniature a strong base to build on it a good idea.
In the works I found the smaller squared letters and from the charity shops I found the domino I used these for my fantasy/ancients bases.
On making the 2mm horse and musket pieces I have tried to detail the steps I use, I was keen to use the black air dry clay for quicker painting, so apologies for the pictures.
The tools are a salvaged throng of poking, flattening and cutting implements.
Splat the first pieces is squashed onto the base.
I form this into a rough rectangle.
I will roll out some thin strips of clay and place in line cutting to fit
Result of the two thing rolled strips
I use my knife to cut the squares which will help me when it’s time to paint the dots and stripes
No exact patterns or skills I poke about for the infantry trying to get forms I can pop paint on
The flags I use reclaimed plasti-card from those coffee cup tops.
Clipper a rectangle and plastic glue will get it sturdy and in place
The unit ready for a bit of paint
The muskets ready to fight for the Cristino cause
