The Dabble

The idea was a chart, it’s probably been done before, it’s actually quite fun to play around with.

As you can see the chart runs of the attackers roll and defenders roll, (d6) quite easy cross referencing.

Attacker rolls 4, defender rolls 4, both take a Fatigue point.

Attacker rolls 4 defender rolls 6, attacker takes a fatigue point.

Attacker rolls 4 and defender rolls 1, defender is destroyed.

Results of ‘F’ move back 2 squares. Results of’ R’ move back 1 square. As you can see if above the red line it effects the defender, if below the red line it effects the attacker.

It gave quite an exciting game, now I can add to this I know, but I just wanted to see how it actually played out.

The scenario was kept the same and so were the orders.  Movements were 1 for foot and Gun and 2 for Horse.  Gun fire 4 squares and infantry 1. I think I was giving a bonus of 1 more square moved for being on the road.

The foot and horse had 3 fatigue points and Gun had 2.

Red Orders.  Horse to take hill and engage enemy approaching.  Foot A, B & C to seize town.

Blue orders.  Foot 3 and Gun to defend town.  Foot 1&2 with cavalry to take hill.

All going well for Red until…

Blue managed to stay on the hill to contest the territory! A draw but it could be so easily different.

I think I would like to work further on this, it’s giving me something to do and it is just about the right amount of faffing for me.  Please do give it a go and give your own spin to it.
