Ignite that spark
Currently life and the situation has really smashed any inclination to do anything, add to this the stress and depression any idea seemed crap.

Disputed Boarders.
Lord Bass arrived at just before 9am with his force. Bass positioned himself on Shooter’s Hill, he has some of his infantry ready to move into Wantsum and has held back off Tutton.
Lord Roe knowing the area well sends infantry into Willow Woods and takes up the route straight to Tutton, he arrives at 9 am.
Both of the villages lay between boundaries, this has always been quite a hot topic in both council chambers. Both lords have been sent by their representative countries to sort this dispute and lay claim for the respective powers that be.
Lord Roe took initiative ordering his infantry forward to Tutton, he was not too sure how quickly his infantry in the willow woods were moving on Wantsum.
Lord Bass praised his fortunes and pushed his infantry forward thinking Roe a fool.
Roe took the initiative again sending his men in Tutton and charging the infantry coming from Shooter’s Hill, the infantry having not expected a charge so quick gave ground! Hearing the din of battle Roe’s infantry started a commotion at Wantsum.
Bass who until this moment was basking in glory on Shooter’s Hill winced then cursed as he viewed the commotion at Wantsum. He threw his cavalry down upon Roe and spirited by their leader his infantry went in to Tutton. Unfortunately Roe was up for a scrap and counter charged. The infantry meet with tough resistance at Tutton and battered again withdrew. Infantry at Wantsum followed up with more fire but were out classed and so withdrew, fortunately Bass had infantry to take up positions around the town.
Lord Bass eventually got his wits about him, everything was going rather poorly, the cavalry skirmish saw him beat back Roe. Unfortunately with tough resistance at Tutton and the unexpected numbers at the woods he seemed to have unwilling troops, reports of numbers in the Willow Woods rattled a troop into full on withdrawal seeing this and hearing the non accurate reporting made the Wantsum troop withdraw. Lord Bass spat and got to ordering of his men and the inevitable withdrawal.
Seeing the enemy in confusion and disarray brought a smile to Roe’s face, through overwhelming odds he managed it! He went to get checked over by the Doctor.
Lord Bass never made it back to home, contracting a disease through wounds lead to a fever and finally to a stroke.
A spirited little action, quite in the spirit of the FP3x3PW game system.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of games systems, it occurred to me the other day that your 'Playing card' game system could be used to fight whole campaigns - whole wars - in a single evening.
I also have a query in respect of your battle maps. Do you keep them? It seems to me that the whole collection could be used to make up a whole theatre of war (if not a whole continent or world).
Cheers,
Ion
Thank you Ion!
ReplyDeleteYes it did spring to mind about the card system, it was a “happy little accident” as a well known painter would have said.
The maps are all nicely stacked and given time I would love to use them to create a whole world.
For the moment I’m content with the little skirmishes, but one day I can build on all this testing.
