Battle for Melonia 4

Dizeli forcing Soranto to battle.  This was fought in the hilly region south of Nomi.  Soranto was doing really well (bottom cards).  He had hold of a strong line however Dizeli’s knowledge of the area and mastery of reserves proved vital, quickly gaining the centre and left flank proved too devastating for Soranto.  Dizeli pushed his trap further and the Melonia cavalry captured Soranto in the far pass.

Final hand using my accident rules, they worked very well for this, the results clear as day and much fun.  I thought back to what Archduke Piccolo said and thought I really fancy carrying on just to see what can be done with the cards and my accident rules.

Next up Capo Beani soon finds he has made a very big mistake after launching his trap at the beach front.  His Gun and Horse all but useless could not keep up with the manoeuvring of the Broccolian force a very well drilled and disciplined fighting force.  Forming line, supporting troops moving up the beach. The few foot left of the Capo (Beani now dead) either captured or running back to Artechi.  A major blow for the Clementine war effort.

The last deal of the battle the Capo was throwing everything at the enemy but they just kept rolling forward, smashing straight through the trap inland and he found himself loosing ground and very much out manoeuvred.

Rupert of Carrotia makes it to camp within site of the walls of Elodina, the Clementine force of Alberto can be seen making camp in the distance.   Of course Alberto awaits Soranto…. As for poor Franco well he was completely duped, shamed he takes leave and his force dissolves or goes to meet Dizeli.

The words of Rupert and his actions of respect impress the Order of Oniony they give their blessings.  Word gets to Alberto of the capture of Soranto and Dizeli’s victory.  Facing the possibility of  three forces ( does not know about Franco) he stays to parlay with Rupert.  Alberto manages to see his forces safe return to Clementine, but there is a very strict boarder decided. The safety of Soranto is granted though he is to join the monks  of Oniony and atone for crimes to Melonia.

The boarder is set with a guard of Carrotian for 5 years until Melonian militia take over under Carrotia command.   Unfortunately the actions of Capo Beani has pushed a few months of tensions which has seen Celeristine and Artechi under Broccolian grip.  The Clementine are not too happy about Carrotia tying up more lands which benefit their territory, but with the Broccolian pressure are now too low on power to fight both fronts opened.

It was good to see all my ideas and the narrative unfold taking on each step by step.  It was fun thinking of the reactions and having results in an instant.  To be fair it was a bit nuts as I was not expecting it to go so smoothly and definitely not expecting (wanting) it to end so quickly.  I loved playing out the whole portable 3x3 but that one game made the whole campaign explode there was so much to sort and resolve.  Using “my accident” gave me a resounding result for many fronts and many aspects.  I am definitely trying this again, I can see Broccolia and Carrotia coming to blows before too long…..

  1. I reckon I might be forced to give this game system a go - supposing I understand it correctly. Might pretty it up with figures and game board, bearing in mind that the cards form the engine of the game. The potential for large scale operations and campaigns is enormous.

    1. Hopefully you can as would really like to see it, if I can I’ll try and post the slim version where I use less space for the card play, might be of used.
